Are You More Grace or More Truth?

"People don’t always hear what we meant to say. They only hear it through their own lens."

Ep 138 // Speaking the Truth in Love…and Learning to Hear It Too: Practicing Charitable Orthodoxy

Dear Kingdom Life Fam -

We Christians love to talk about speaking the truth in love. But let’s be honest…we don’t always love hearing the truth in love. (Ouch.)

And yet, that’s where real spiritual growth happens — when we not only share truth with compassion, but also receive truth with humility.

In this week’s episode of the podcast, I’m talking about charitable orthodoxy — a beautiful phrase that means holding fast to the core truths of our faith while relating to others with grace, humility, and respect.

This matters so much in the world we live in today!

With so many sharp disagreements and online “truth bombs,” what if Christians were known not for arrogance or indifference, but for a posture of listening, learning, and love?

This episode is a labor of love and passion of my heart.

Here’s what you’ll discover:

  • Why people often misinterpret what we say (but rarely misinterpret themselves).
  • How to avoid the pitfalls of truth without love (harshness) or love without truth (relativism).
  • The Grace & Truth Matrix from Gravity Leadership — four ways we can show up in conversations, and why “calling in” is the Jesus way.
  • Practical ways to grow in both conviction and compassion.
“Giving truth in love takes courage. Receiving truth in love takes humility.”

Journal Prompt for the Week: In which relationships is God inviting you to move from “calling out” to “calling in”?

Let’s become people who not only speak the truth in love — but also hear it, receive it, and embody it in the way of Jesus.

With grace and courage,

PS - On a personal note, I was reminded, once again this week, that it's SO IMPORTANT to pay attention to your body! God has created the ultimate 'warning' system.' After moving furniture (yeah, not the smartest), I felt that knowing back TWINGE. I've ignored it before and landed myself in the hospital (yeah, that's a story for another day)! So...as much as it pains me to skip my normal gym routine, I am being self-disciplined and finding other forms of movement. To include walking. Let me just say, God is SO GOOD at reminding me to stop and smell the roses. Fall is gorgeous around here!

What's it like in your neck of the woods? Reply and lmk how your fall weather is treating you...

** Not an email everyday person? I got you! **
